About the film
Tenho Fé (I Have Faith) is a Brazilian documentary directed by Rian Córdova. The film explores Afro Brazilian cultures and the impact of religious racism, told through the creative journeys of artists whose work honours the Orixás and African ancestry.
Synopsis
The documentary follows the journeys of several artists who express their cultural and spiritual heritage through music, theatre, visual arts, fashion and dance. Their stories open a powerful conversation on Black representation, identity and artistic expression.
The narrative also incorporates analyses from academics and religious figures, highlighting the struggle of Afro-Brazilian religions against religious racism in contemporary Brazil
Director: Rian Córdova
Rian Córdova is a filmmaker whose work centres on representation, culture and human rights. He directed and co-wrote Luana Muniz – Daughter of the Moon, winner of the Audience Choice Award at Mix Brasil 2017, Best Feature Film at the Rio Gender and Sexuality in Cinema Festival 2017, and Best Documentary Feature at DIGO Goiás 2018.
He also directed Lorna Washington – Surviving Supposed Losses, which received an Honourable Mention at the Rio Gender and Sexuality Film Festival 2016 and represented Brazil in the Best Documentary category at the Viña del Mar International Festival 2017.
